Product Review: Santa is Green and Mama Doni is Back! (Nov ‘09)
If you are looking for a unique gift idea for the holidays, here are two items worth strong consideration. One is for Chanukah and the other for Christmas. (Convenient, right?)
When Santa Turned Green (http://bit.ly/1b44f7), by Victoria Perla, is a creative holiday story that introduces kids to environmental awareness. The premise is that Santa is getting ready for Christmas when he discovers a leak in his roof. He learns that this little leak is connected to a far bigger problem and he calls upon children to make a difference.
Truth be told, when I learned of this book I was a skeptical about an author connecting Santa to global warming. Yet the story is told exceptionally well and the illustrations are beautifully done. I really enjoyed this book!
If your family is socially aware or if you are looking for a unique, imaginitive twist on an old tale, keep When Santa Turned Green on your radar this holiday season.

Mama Doni is the hip, hilarious and wacky singer-songwriter of “funky music with a Jewish twist.” Her outrageous new Chanukah CD is due out November 24th. Everyone from “babies to bubbies” will laugh out loud and sing the songs from “Chanukah Fever.”
Do you know anyone else who can sing an entire song about latkes, dreidels, menorahs or gelt? Your kids will crack up at her lyrics and the songs will stay in your head for months after Chanukah is over. Oh, and did I mention that she is a hometown girl who grew up in Lower Merion?
You can purchase your CD on www.mamadoni.com but you can’t have mine!
